How You can help… VOLUNTEER
Neighborhoods Focused On African-American Youth welcomes individuals who share in our vision for youth. A large number of volunteers are needed to support neighborhood organizing as well as to volunteer in the youth programs that will be implemented in partnership with the neighborhood residents. If you have a desire to demonstrate and express your love for your fellow man, then your searching to get involved has ended. Please participate in Organizing To Save Our Youth project, so children residing in public housing neighborhoods can get the supplemental academic support they need.
We support Community Study Hall programs in four public housing neighborhoods. Two sites are located in Columbus, GA. One site is located in Perry, Georgia and a fourth site is located in Roswell, Georgia. The after-school hours of operation are 3:30pm-6pm. . You may volunteer to support the students one or more days each week during an academic school year.
As a volunteer, your role can include:
- Providing crucial homework assistance.
- Leading fun and educational reading and math activities.
- Sharing effective study techniques.
- Planning and organizing educational games.
- Being a source of encouragement and motivation for students to excel academically
